Aircel renews its technology outsourcing deal with Wipro
September 16, 2013
Aircel has renewed its technology outsourcing contract with Wipro for five years. The deal is estimated to be worth Rs 5 billion.
Initially, in 2008, Aircel had signed a nine-year technology outsourcing deal with Wipro. However, the operator decided to revise the contract, as it is in the process of realigning its existing business and reducing operational costs. The previous deal focused on Wipro offering support services to Aircel for content delivery and the promotion of mobile applications. However, the new deal focuses on helping Aircel grow its voice business along with increasing the adoption of basic data services.
