ZTE to manage ANTEL’s GPON Project
Uruguay-based operator Administración Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (ANTEL) has partnered with ZTE to help it roll out a gigabit passive optical network (GPON) in Uruguay.
ZTE will assist the operator in delivering a broadband network with a speed of 100 Mbps using fibre-to-home, fiber-to-the-premises and the backhaul Point to Point radio to more than 300,000 families and institutions across the country.
As part of the partnership, ZTE will provide the ZXA10 C300, a next-generation, convergent full-service optical access platform for the project to meet ANTEL’s growing demands for providing high speed broadband services to consumers.
Commenting on partnering for the project with ANTEL, Jiang Xiangyang, vice-president, ZTE, says, “Our innovative solutions and rich commercial experience will help ANTEL provide enhanced services to its users and maintain its leading position in Uruguay and Latin America.”
