Ericsson to manage LTE services for Omantel

The Oman-based telecom service provider Omantel has chosen Ericsson to build and manage its long-term-evolution (LTE) network in the country and transform its radio access network.
As part of the managed services contract, Ericsson will support Omantel in deploying LTE network for providing high speed internet access to its subscribers.
The service provider has more than 2.7 million subscribers in the country. Omantel plans to offer its subscriber multimedia services and improved data services through LTE network.
Currently, Ericsson is the sole vendor supplying packet core solution to Omantel for its 2G and 3G data services.
