Xiaomi launches the Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G phablets in India

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G phablets in India for a price of Rs 8,999 and Rs 9,999 respectively. The Redmi Note has a 5.5 inch IPS display and come with dual-SIM support. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6589T processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 with Xiaomi's MIUI v5 user interface.

The Redmi Note has 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 32 GB through a microSD card. It further features a 13 megapixel primary camera and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. The Redmi Note offers options like GPRS/EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot functionality, Bluetooth 4.0, a Micro-USB port with OTG support, and A-GPS.

The 4G version of the Redmi Note is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The 4G phablet supports only single SIM, however, all its other specifications are similar to Redmi Note.

The Redmi Note will be available on the e-commerce website, Flipkart through flash sales from December 2, 2014. The 4G variant will be launched later in the month in partnership with Airtel and will be available at 100 Airtel stores around the country.
