Samsung Electronics has introduced the Galaxy Note 3 device and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch in India. Priced at Rs 49,900, the Galaxy Note 3 functions on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform and is powered by a 1.9 GHz Exynos octa-core processor. It has a 5.7 inch screen and 3 GB RAM, and dual cameras (a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera). The Galaxy Gear smartwatch, which is the first wearable technology device, features a 1.63 inch screen and can be used to make calls, display messages and record videos. The smartwatch has a 1.9 megapixel camera and is priced at Rs 22,990.

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) has tied up with Lava Mobiles to launch the Lava L661 device. Priced at Rs 1,199, the CDMA handset features an MP3 player and expandable memory of up to 4 GB. Other features include an inbuilt alarm, calculator, calendar and facilities such as T9 predictive text, vCard and group SMS.

BlackBerry has introduced the BlackBerry 9720 smartphone priced at Rs 15,990. The device runs on the BlackBerry 7.1 operating system (OS) and has a 2.8 inch screen, 512 MB RAM and a microSD memory card slot. It also houses a 5 megapixel camera.

DOMO has launched the Slate X14 tablet, priced at Rs 4,990. The device features a 7 inch LCD display and functions on a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor. Its other features include 512 MB RAM, 4 GB of internal memory and the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. It houses a 2 megapixel front camera and supports Wi-Fi, micro USB and 3G technologies.

Intex has introduced the Aqua i7 smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The smartphone has a 5 inch screen and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. It packs in 2 GB RAM, 32 GB of internal memory and supports dual SIM cards and cameras (a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera). Priced at Rs 21,900, the device also supports 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 technologies.

Micromax has introduced the Canvas Ego A113 smartphone, priced at Rs 12,999. The smartphone functions on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. The Canvas Ego A113 packs in a 4.7 inch screen, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, which is expandable to 32 GB. The device supports dual SIM cards, an 8 megapixel camera and technologies such as global positioning system (GPS), 3G, Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth.

Xolo has introduced the Q1000S smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The Q1000S has a 5 inch screen, 1 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. The device also features dual cameras (a 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera) and is priced at Rs 18,999.

Lava International has introduced the Iris 506q smartphone, priced at Rs 10,999. The device functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. It features a 5 inch screen, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, which is expandable to 32 GB, and dual cameras (a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera). The Iris 506q supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technologies.

Sony has introduced the Xperia Z1 smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. The Xperia Z1 packs in 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory which is expandable to 32 GB, and a 20.7 megapixel camera. The device supports technologies such as 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and near field communication (NFC). The smartphone is priced at Rs 44,990.

Nokia has introduced the Nokia 114 feature phone, which supports Urdu. The feature phone has a 1.8 inch screen and 16 MB of internal memory, which is expandable to 32 GB. The Nokia 114 supports dual SIM cards and is priced at Rs 2,579.

Celkon has introduced the Monalisa ML-5 smartphone, priced at Rs 10,999. The smartphone functions on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. The Monalisa ML-5 features a 4.5 inch screen, 1 GB RAM and 512 MB of internal memory. It supports dual SIM cards and cameras (an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera).

Lenovo has introduced the Idea Tablet A 3000, which functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The tablet packs in a 7 inch screen, 16 GB of internal memory, which is expandable to 32 GB, and dual cameras (a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera). The Idea Tablet A 3000 supports 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies.

HTC has introduced the HTC One Dual SIM+ smartphone, priced at Rs 53,590. The smartphone functions on the Android Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor. It features a 4.7 inch screen, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, which is expandable to 32 GB. The smartphone supports dual SIM cards and technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC.

Karbonn Mobiles has launched the A8 smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor. The smartphone packs in a 3.9 inch screen, a 5 megapixel camera, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 32 GB. The A8 supports dual SIM cards and is priced at Rs 6,149.

Micromax has launched the A74 smartphone, priced at Rs 7,749. The A74 functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor. The smartphone packs in a 4.5 inch screen, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, which is expandable to 32 GB. It supports dual SIM cards and cameras (a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front camera).

Micromax has also introduced the Canvas Doodle 2 A240 smartphone, which functions on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. The smartphone has a 5.7 inch screen and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. The Canvas Doodle 2 A240 offers 12 GB of internal memory and 1 GB RAM. It supports dual SIM cards and cameras (a 12 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera) as well as 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 technologies. The device is priced at Rs 19,990.

Services

Aircel has reduced local call tariffs within the Delhi circle by 90 per cent. Subscribers purchasing the recharge coupon priced at Rs 27 will be charged Re 0.10 per call for the first 100 minutes. Subsequently, each call will be charged Re 0.40 per minute. The recharge coupon has a validity of 21 days. In addition, the operator has revised tariffs for its Rs 11 recharge coupon, which comes with a validity of 15 days. Customers availing of this recharge coupon will be charged Re 0.10 for each local call.

Vodafone India has partnered with ICICI Bank to launch the M-Pesa money transfer facility in the Uttar Pradesh (West) circle. The service will be available across 137 tehsils in 49 districts through 2,800 authorised agents in the circle. Using the M-Pesa service, subscribers will be able to deposit and withdraw cash from designated outlets, transfer money to any mobile phone in the country, pay their utility bills, recharge their mobile phones and shop at select outlets.

Videocon Mobile Services has launched three roaming packs, wherein all incoming calls while roaming within the country on other networks will not be charged. The packs are priced at Rs 4, Rs 42 and Rs 68 and entail up to 50 minutes, 500 minutes and 850 minutes of free incoming calls respectively. The packs are valid for a day, two weeks and four weeks respectively.

TATA DOCOMO has introduced the RC 499 prepaid voucher for customers in Karnataka. Priced at Rs 499, the voucher offers free talktime worth Rs 500 with unlimited validity and 2 GB of 3G data usage for 60 days.

 Videocon Mobile Services has launched two recharge vouchers priced at Rs 105 and Rs 135 for existing and new customers respectively. Both vouchers are valid for a month, and offer 1,000 minutes of free calls, after which each call will be charged at Re 0.10 per minute.

Aircel has launched the Aircel BookMate e-book store, which permits customers to browse, store, download and read books, magazines and comics on their smartphones, tablets and personal computers. The application is currently available on the internet, and the WAP and Google Play platforms. To access the application, customers are required to register on www.aircelbookmate.com.

Vodafone has partnered with HybridPayTech to provide connectivity for the latter’s mobile payment service through its machine-to-machine (M2M) platform.  Organisations using HybridPayTech payment services will be able to securely process credit and debit card payments using Vodafone’s network. The operator will provide global M2M SIM cards, remote device management tools and highly secure worldwide connectivity.
