Nokia has launched the Lumia 510 device in the Indian market. The Lumia 510 operates on the Windows Phone 7.5 platform, and packs in 256 MB RAM and a 5 megapixel camera. It offers users access to social networks, the Microsoft Office applications suite and the Microsoft SkyDrive facility, which provides 7 GB of free cloud storage. It also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS and EDGE connectivity, and audio formats like MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA.

Sony India has introduced the Xperia tipo smartphone. The device runs on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It has a 3.2 inch screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and offers expandable memory of up to 32 GB. Other features include

support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technologies, and preloaded applications like Bollywood Hungama, Dainik Jagran and Cricbuzz. The smartphone is available in single- and dual-SIM variants. The single-SIM Xperia tipo is priced at Rs 9,999, while the dual-SIM device costs Rs 10,449.

Swipe Telecom has launched the Swipe Tab All in One dual-SIM 3G tablet, priced at Rs 11,999. The device operates on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform and packs in a TFT LCD touchscreen, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB of inbuilt memory expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card, and supports applications like G-sensor, global positioning system, accelerometer and an e-book reader. Other features include support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies, a 2 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front camera.

HTC’s latest offering, the Desire X smartphone features a SuperLCD display, the HTC Sense user interface, 4 GB of internal memory and 768 MB RAM. The device also supports GPRS, EDGE and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and has a 5 megapixel primary camera. It runs on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The phone is priced at Rs 23,499.

EKEN Electronics has introduced three Android-based tablets under the EKEN Leopard brand. The company has partnered with Aldous Glare Trade & Exports for the distribution of its tablets in Kerala. Priced between Rs 6,900 and Rs 11,999, the EKEN Leopard tablets feature 7, 8 and 9.7 inch screens, a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calling and 8 GB of internal memory. Other features include support for 3G and global positioning system facility, and preloaded apps like the Google Play store.

VK Mobile has introduced the Android-based Xplode smartphone. Priced at Rs 4,900, the device packs in a 3.5 inch screen and a 2 megapixel camera and is powered by an ARM Cortex-A5 processor. It also has 16 GB of internal memory, and supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Zen Mobile has introduced the Ultratab A900 tablet priced at Rs 7,999. The device has a 9 inch capacitive touchscreen and a 1.5 GHz processor with a MALI 400 GPU, and runs on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system. Other features include a 1.3 megapixel front camera, and support for 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity and for various music file formats like MP2, MP3, WAV and AAC. The tablet also has 512 MB RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 32 GB via a microSD card.

ZenFocus has launched the myZenTAB 773 B tablet, priced at Rs 9,930. The device operates on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform, and supports 3G and Wi-Fi technologies. It also features 512 MB RAM, a 0.3 megapixel front camera, and 8 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB through a microSD card.

Karbonn Mobiles has introduced two new tablets – the Karbonn Smart Tab 3 (Blade) and the Karbonn Smart Tab 9 (Marvel). The tablets run on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and pack in a 1.2 GHz processor, a capacitive touchscreen and the 3D gravity sensor application. Other features include support for Wi-Fi and 3G, and pre-embedded applications like the Karbonn Smart Browser, Karbonn Smart Games and Facebook. While the Blade has a 1.3 megapixel front camera, the Marvel features a 1.9 megapixel camera. The company has also introduced three smartphones – the Karbonn A11, the Karbonn A7+ and the Karbonn A1+. All three devices feature a multitouch screen and a 1 GHz processor, and support dual SIM cards. The A11 handset operates on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform, while the other two devices run on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system. While the A11 and the A7+ house a 5 megapixel camera, the A1+ has a 3 megapixel camera. The Karbonn A11 is priced at Rs 9,990 while the A7+ and the A1+ cost Rs 8,990 and Rs 4,990 respectively.

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) has introduced the MTS MTag 353 CDMA-based smartphone. The Android-based device operates on the Gingerbread platform and is powered by an 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The MTS MTag 353 comes embedded with the MTS TV application, enabling on-the-go access to over 100 live TV and video-on-demand channels. The handset is priced at Rs 5,999.

LG Electronics has introduced the Optimus Vu smartphone, priced at Rs 34,500. The device operates on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) platform, has a 5 inch screen and is powered by a 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad Core processor. Other features include an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. The device also has 32 GB of internal memory.

Services

Bharti Airtel has launched post-paid 4G services in Pune. Users can now avail of various services such as video streaming, multiple chatting and instant uploading of photos. The operator has introduced four new tariff plans for these

services – the Break Free, the Break Free Max, the Break Free Ultra and the Break Free Ultimate. The plans have a monthly rental of Rs 999, Rs 1,399, Rs 1,999 and Rs 2,999, and provide free data usage of 6 GB, 9 GB, 18 GB and 30 GB respectively. Once users exceed their free data usage limit, the connectivity speed will reduce to 128 kbps. The operator is also offering two 4G devices priced at Rs 4,999, Wi-Fi-enabled indoor customer premises equipment and a 4G multimode dongle. Also available are the 3 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB Smartbytes plans, priced at Rs 600, Rs 875 and Rs 1,500 respectively.

Vodafone subscribers buying the Xperia tipo smartphone can avail of free monthly data usage of up to 500 MB for three months from the date of purchase. The offer is valid till December 31, 2012.

Nokia has introduced the City Lens Point application that enables users to search and get directions to various places. It also allows users to make reservations and provides turn-by-turn navigation. The application is available free for the Lumia 800, 710 and 900 devices as well as the Nokia 700, 701 and N8 handsets.

Aircel has introduced a 3G dongle value pack priced at Rs 1,777. The pack offers subscribers 2 GB of data usage per month for a period of three months.

TATA DOCOMO has launched the RCV 250 unlimited 3G data plan for its prepaid customers. The plan offers users talktime worth Rs 250 with lifetime validity as well as unlimited 3G data usage for 30 days.

Vodafone India has introduced an SMS service that enables users to locate blood donors. To avail of the service, subscribers have to send BLOOD as an SMS to 55444. The matching result for a potential donor is narrowed down to the subscriber’s pin code. Users will be charged Re 1 per SMS for the service, which is supported by Innoz.

Reliance Communications has introduced the All Share post-paid plan that offers customers three mobile connections for a monthly rental of Rs 1,497. The plan also entails 3,000 free local and national calling minutes as well as 3,000 free text messages, along with 3 GB of 3G data usage per month. It also provides free calling amongst the family or group members opting for the plan. Subscribers can increase the number of connections in the plan to 10 by paying an incremental rental of Rs 499 per connection. For the additional connection, users will get 1,000 free minutes of local and national calls, 1,000 free local and national SMSs, and 1 GB of 3G data usage for a month.

Vodafone India is offering its subscribers in the Andhra Pradesh circle a waiver on data usage charges and rentals. Post-paid customers owning a tablet can avail of a waiver on the rental for a month while prepaid users can avail of 1 GB of free data usage for one month.

Loop Mobile has introduced the traffic SMS alert facility. Users can access this service by sending SUB TRAFF as an SMS to 53535 or by dialling *888*8#. The service enables users to select the starting and final destination as well as choose the time from which to receive real-time traffic alerts for the day. The service is priced at Re 1 per day for prepaid users and Rs 30 per month for post-paid subscribers.

Aircel has entered into a strategic partnership with NEC for software-as-a- service. Aircel and NEC will provide cloud service solutions to customers under the Business Unplugged brand. NEC will manage Aircel’s technology infrastructure, and will provide level 2 support for cloud offerings and aggregation platforms. NEC will also manage all cloud service provider relationships. Aircel and NEC will focus on enterprise grade offerings such as collaboration, customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, human resource management services, business suites and videoconferencing solutions.

Users purchasing SSTL’s MTS MTag 353 device can also avail of a bundled voice and data offer. For Rs 154, users get 512 MB of high speed data per month for two months, and 500 free local and STD calling minutes per month for three months. All calls are priced at Re 0.10 per two seconds for six months.
