Smartlink Network Systems Limited, which operates in the Indian motherboard market under the brand name Digilite, has launched the new DL-AHD1S-K motherboard. The DL-AHD1S-K is based on the Advanced Micro Devices’ (AMD) Hudson D1 A45 chipset, with an advanced DirectX 11 graphics engine and the AMD unified video decoder 3.0 technology. The DL-AHD1S-K has an inbuilt dual-core E350 processor and up to 2GB of video graphics array share memory. The product is suitable for digital signage, diskless nodes and cloud computing applications.
The DL-AHD1S-K offers universal video decoding and supports high definition DVD content. It also supports AMD’s Zacate accelerated processors with Umi technology. Its other features include single-channel DDR3 1066 memory support. The motherboard comes with a burnt warranty and is rust proof. It comprises Japanese solid capacitors and is priced at Rs 4,299.
STMicroelectronics launches energy-saving voltage comparator
STMicroelectronics has introduced its general-purpose TS33 voltage comparator, which consumes less power. The ultra-low- power device achieves a propagation delay of 200ns while consuming only 30µA of current, which is 66 per cent lower than other solutions available in the market.
The TS33 provides greater power efficiency and a longer battery life. It delivers a stable response time over a wide temperature range, from -40 °C to +125 °C, and offers superior electrostatic discharge protection capabilities. The comparator integrates an open drain output and rail-to-rail inputs with a wide operating voltage range, from 1.6V to 5V. This translates into greater design flexibility and enables the integration of STMicroelectronics’ comparator in systems operating at 1.8V, 3V and 5V voltage levels.
The comparator is available in single, dual and quad versions in surface mount packages. It is suitable for signal-conditioning applications in mobile communications, battery-operated portable electronics, and alarm and security systems. The TS33 general-purpose voltage comparator range is priced at $0.28 (TS331-single), $0.35 (TS332-dual) and $0.39 (TS334-quad) per unit and is available in 1,000 unit packages.
DIGISOL unveils its wireless ADSL2+ broadband router
DIGISOL has launched its new wireless asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) 2/2+ broadband router, the DG-BG4011N. It provides speeds of up to 24 Mbps downstream and up to 1 Mbps upstream. The DG-BG4011N is an ideal wireless broadband customer premises equipment solution for both residential
consumers and small offices. The ADSL router supports IEEE802.11n wireless local area network (LAN), with speeds of up to 150 Mbps. It is equipped with one RJ11 telephone interface for an ADSL connection, four RJ45 Ethernet interfaces for connecting notebook/desktop computers and other network devices. The router comes with a web-based graphic user interface for modifying settings when connected to an internet service provider. It also provides flow statistics, connection status, and other useful information for troubleshooting purposes.
The DG-BG4011N supports static and dynamic IP addresses, and a point-to-point protocol over Ethernet connection. Further, it supports a quality of service feature, which enhances the performance of certain network applications such as audio/video streaming, VoIP and others. This also enables the wireless broadband router to prioritise different types of data for better throughput. The router also has a Wi-Fi protected set-up, which simplifies set-up procedures and provides robust wireless security through the WPA2 Enterprise (802.1x with AES) solution, which protects sensitive data from hackers. The DG-BG4011N also supports 64/128 bit WEP encryption, which offers residential users a high level of security choice with respect to wireless network confidentiality. The router is priced at Rs 1,950 and comes with a lifetime warranty.
Analog Devices launches ADSP-BF60x series of dual-core Blackfin processors
Analog Devices has introduced the ADSP-BF60x series of 1 GHz dual-core Blackfin processors. The series includes the ADSP-BF606, ADSP-BF607, ADSP-BF608 and ADSP-BF609 processor models.
The ADSP-BF606 and ADSP-BF607 are designed to provide flexibility for a variety of general-purpose digital signal processing applications such as wireless communications, industrial process control and electric power grid monitoring/protection.
The ADSP-BF608 and ADSP-BF609 models are optimised for embedded vision applications and feature a high performance video analytics accelerator, known as the pipelined vision processor (PVP). The PVP comprises a set of configurable processing blocks designed to accelerate up to five concurrent image algorithms and enables a very high level of analytics performance. The ADSP-BF608 and ADSP-BF609 models are ideal for automotive advanced driver assistance systems, industrial machine vision and security/surveillance systems.
All these new processors have two 500 MHz cores, the largest on-chip memory available within the Blackfin family and have been optimised for low power consumption. They also include a new high bandwidth switched fabric data movement infrastructure, a rich peripheral set and other safety-oriented features. Typical power consumption for the ADSP-BF609 is 400 mW, which is the lowest amongst the processors. The ADSP-BF60x Blackfin processors come loaded with a rich set of on-chip peripheral options, development tools, boards and extender boards such as CrossCore embedded studio software development tools, high speed in-circuit emulators, EZ-Kit development boards and application-specific EZ-Extender cards. The ADSP-BF60x processors are available at a starting price of $15 per unit in quantities of 1,000 units.
Agilent introduces Infiniium 90000 Q-Series of oscilloscopes
Agilent Technologies has introduced the Infiniium 90000 Q-Series of oscilloscopes, which offer real-time bandwidth of 63 GHz on two channels and 33 GHz on four channels. The new series includes 10 four-channel bandwidth upgradeable models, ranging from 20 GHz to 63 GHz. These new oscilloscopes produce low noise and have a low jitter measurement floor, which ensure high measurement accuracy.
At its maximum bandwidth, the Q-Series breaks the 60 GHz barrier with a -3 dB point at 63 GHz. The 33 GHz model allows engineers to simultaneously trigger and capture signals on all four channels without compromise. These two specifications allow the oscilloscopes to make measurements for devices that are designed to conform to emerging standards. The oscilloscopes also provide direct digitisation of M-band signals (60 GHz to 100 GHz). They can also capture the third harmonic on 28, 32 and 40 Gbps digital signals and analyse IEEE 802.3ba 40/100/400 Gigabit Ethernet and Optical Internetworking Forum CEI 3.0 signals.
Further, the 90000 Q-Series, with its RealEdge technology, improves the performance of Agilent’s custom integrated circuits and multichip module packaging. RealEdge is a combination of new architectures, next-generation microcircuits and thin-film components, and advanced application of Agilent’s indium phosphide semiconductor process. This new technology enables high frequency capability while maintaining the low noise (4.4 mV at 50 mV/div, 63 GHz) and low jitter measurement floor (~75 femto seconds).
The price of the Infiniium 90000 Q-Series oscilloscopes ranges from $191,000 to $436,000.
Brocade unveils entry-level Fibre Channel SAN switch
Brocade has introduced a new entry-level Fibre Channel storage area network (SAN) switch, Brocade 6505, to broaden its suite of next-generation SAN switches. The Brocade 6505 is configurable in 12 and 24 ports, and supports speeds of 2 Gbps, 4 Gbps, 8 Gbps and 16 Gbps. The switch supports other members of the Brocade SAN family such as the Brocade 6510 (configurable between 24 and 48 ports) and the Brocade DCX 8510 Backbones (available in four- and eight-slot configurations). Further, the Brocade SAN solutions provide second-generation inter chassis links that enable faster and simpler fabrics with fewer cables, which increase cable consolidation, and reduce network complexity and costs.
Brocade is also extending the benefits of its Fibre Channel backbone and switch products to its adapter family, which would provide unique benefits to organisations deploying an all-Brocade SAN fabric. The company has introduced new enhancements to Brocade adapters including dynamic fabric provisioning, which virtualises connections between the Brocade adapters and switches to simplify server deployment and reconfiguration. Brocade has introduced its diagnostic ports capability in its adapters, which was previously offered only in switches. As a result, administrators can now easily and rapidly identify as well as isolate problems for optics and cables.
The Brocade embedded switch and mezzanine host bus adapter reduces the requirement of external ports, optics, cables and power, thus lowering costs significantly. It also provides investment protection by supporting increased virtual machine densities and next-generation technologies such as solid state storage arrays. The mezzanine adapter (dual port) supports speeds of 8 Gbps and 16 Gbps. The stand-up adapters (single and dual port) support speeds of 2 Gbps, 4 Gbps, 8 Gbps and 16 Gbps, with each port capable of 500,000 input/output operations per second.
