Edgar Dias has both the technical expertise in the network solutions space and the drive to bring next-generation telecom solutions to Indian customers.

An electrical engineer by training, Dias went on to obtain an MBA in marketing and finance from the T.A. Pai Management Institute. Thereafter, he worked at Wipro for five years in different sales management functions and then with Nortel in different roles, including as leader of data networks for the Asia-Pacific (APAC), Middle East and Africa regions. His knowledge of the data centre segment gave him the opportunity to work with Juniper Networks.

He joined Brocade in 2011 in Singapore as regional director for the enterprise segment for the APAC region. A year later, he returned to India as regional director. Dias is responsible for sales in the IT and storage area network portfolios, and is aiming to achieve a bigger market share for the company in both portfolios. He believes that the industry is undergoing a transformation with customers adopting next-gen-eration technologies relevant to the present cloud and virtualised data centre requirements.

Dias believes that his current assignment is his most important accomplishment. In this role, he helps customers transform their networks by adopting next-generation technologies, which, in turn, helps change the way they conduct their business.

Talking about recent technology trends in the country, Dias says, “Most customers in India have adopted virtualisation. The present software phenomenon pertains to driving agility in businesses without having to add hardware. As a result of this, network function virtualisation is expected to drive change in next-generation data centre design, telecom networks as well as enterprise networks.”

Dias believes that his strength lies in collating industry trends to understand customer dynamics. He motivates and guides his team to capture these opportunities to achieve market leadership. He is developing his team’s skill set in order to enable them to scale up the company’s operations.
