Ganesh K.V., Global Head, Finance, Legal and Company Secretary, Subex Limited

June 10, 2013

Ganesh K.V., Global Head, Finance, Legal...
Ganesh K.V. has 26 years of corporate experience having worked with leading organisations in the manufacturing and service sectors.

A chartered accountant by qualification, he is currently global head of finance, legal and company secretary at Subex Limited. In this role, he oversees the finance, treasury, taxation, legal and secretarial functions on a global level for Subex Limited as well as its subsidiary companies.

The biggest challenge before him, he says, is bringing in financial discipline and ensuring a high level of corporate governance within the organisation. A keen industry observer, he notes that following a period of consolidation, the telecom sector is on a growth path with an increase in capex and IT spending.

Ganesh is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta and the Shriram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. He is a senior member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India as well as the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

A prolific speaker, Ganesh enjoys sharing his knowledge and industry experience with students and young professionals, and is a regular speaker at various forums.

He started his career with Ballarpur Industries in 1987 and later moved to Pepsi Limited. He was associated with the manufacturing sector till 2000 and subsequently shifted to the IT sector. In the past, he has headed the finance function for companies such as HCL Technologies, HSBC and Hewlett Packard (HP).

Ganesh counts his stint with HP as one of his most challenging ones. “I had the mandate of transitioning the entity from a captive setup to a profit centre. Besides, I had to temporarily shift to the US, which was an entirely new as well as challenging experience, considering the concept was new to the HP fold itself,” he says.

Ganesh’s management style involves empowering his team and allowing people to contribute their best to the organisation. His personal interests include travelling and watching cricket. “I like meeting people and have been fortunate to have travelled to different countries both for work and leisure. Travelling is education and lots of new things unfold when one is on the move. Like most Indians, I am an avid follower of cricket.”

Ganesh enjoys singing and listening to music. He also enjoys spending time with his family – his wife Gayathri Gowri, an Art of Living teacher, and his son Prashant, an engineering student.
