December 15, 2005
Motorola has announced that it will roll out its first made-in-India mobile phone in the local market by December 2005. As per the plan, Motorola will source its low-cost, entry-level GSM handsets from a global vendor who will manufacture the product locally.
Though Motorola has declined to divulge the name of the supplier, industry sources say it is most likely to be Elcoteq, the Finnish electronics manufacturing company.
