BSNL, Sri Lanka Telecom and NEC to lay a submarine cable between India and Sri Lanka

BSNL, Sri Lanka Telecom and NEC have signed an agreement to lay a submarine cable between India and Sri Lanka at an estimated investment of Rs 0.8 billion. The proposed 325 km long cable will have a capacity of 20GB for voice, data and video communication.
The cable would be laid between Tuticorin in India and Mt Lavinia in Sri Lanka. The project, expected to be completed in eight months, will carry telecom traffic between the two countries.
