Irish fixed line telecom operator Eircom has re-entered the mobile business after buying Meteor, Ireland's number three mobile operator for around 290 million euros. The deal comes more than four years after Eircom sold its Eircell mobile network to Vodafone for 4.3 billion euros. Meteor will not only provide a new source of revenue to Eircom but will also allow Eircom to explore opportunities in a converged environment.
