RCOM has reduced all call rates to Re 0.50 per minute across networks. The company will offer the new tariff, branded as the Simply Reliance Plan, on both its CDMA and GSM networks to all prepaid and post-paid users. The single rate applies to all local and national long distance (NLD) calls from anywhere in India. The move has triggered a tariff war among operators. SSTL, which is offering services under the MTS brand, has launched a per-second billing in the Delhi circle. Aircel has come out with a per-second offer in five circles and is likely to extend it to Delhi as well. Idea Cellular has also joined the fray by launching its Super Seconds tariff plan in the Rajasthan circle with calls charged at Re 0.01 per second on local and NLD calls on any network in the country.
