Aircel has raised a loan of Rs 143 billion from the State Bank of India (SBI) and Standard Chartered Bank.
Aircel has raised a loan of Rs 143 billion from the State Bank of A India (SBI) and Standard Chartered Bank. Aircel's loan, a combination of rupee and dollar debt, is the largest raised by any Indian mobile service provider in the past one year. While SBI is providing the rupee component of the debt (Rs 100 billion), the dollar component of Rs 43 billion is being provided by Standard Chartered. The loan will be provided for a period of four years at an interest rate of 11.25 per cent. Maxis International is acting as one of the guarantors. The loan amount will be used by the operator to repay some of its debt and for expanding its services to newer circles, besides being used for capital expenditure in circles where it is currently operating.
