The Sri Lankan government has made the 10 per cent telephony levy technology neutral by extending it from mobile phones to fixed lines. The move is part of the proposals to increase revenues in 2009. The country has been recording over 20 per cent inflation for the past few years as the government continues to print money to make up for revenue shortfalls.
