Idea Cellular has planned an investment of around Rs 80 billion for expanding its operations in 2008-09. This excludes investments on rolling out 3G networks and services, capital expenditure lined up for Indus Towers and investments in the Punjab and Karnataka circles. The Aditya Birla group company is targeting a network of about 42,000 towers by the end of the financial year. This excludes towers in Orissa and Tamil Nadu, where the company expects to launch operations over the next six months. As on September 30, 2008, Idea Cellular had 33,377 towers.
