Tata Communications (formerly Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL)) has lost its appeal against FLAG Telecom at the district court of The Hague, Netherlands, in the matter of allowing FLAG access to the Tata-controlled Mumbai cable landing station. The two companies have a construction and maintenance agreement for the station. The dispute arose a few years ago when FLAG accused VSNL of denying it access to the station with the intention to maintain a monopoly over bandwidth prices. According to VSNL, it was not obligated to grant access to FLAG.
