TRAI announces a distinction in tariffs for leased circuits of the classical kind and MLLNs
June 15, 2005
TRAI has announced a distinction in tariffs for leased circuits of the classical kind and managed leased line networks (MLLNs).
It has specified a higher ceiling for MLLN leased circuits due to the additional costs associated with this technology and because of the value-added features it offers. MLLN can be offered on capacities between 64 kbps and 2 Mbps. As per the revised tariffs for leased lines, a 64 kbps connection (for distances of 500 km and above) will cost a maximum of Rs 44,000 per annum while MLLN leased lines with the same capacity will be charged at a higher rate of Rs 51,000. MLLN supports service provisioning, network optimisation, planning and service monitoring.
