DoT has reportedly cancelled its plan to mandate all telecom service providers to increase broadband speeds to a minimum of 512 kbps. DoT has decided that broadband speeds in India will continue to be defined at a minimum of 256 kbps. TRAI, which was consulted by DoT on this issue, has also favoured retention of the current policy.
