The government has received around 300 applications for telecom licences from 30 companies at the end of the October 1, 2007 deadline.

The government has received around 300 applications for telecom licences from 30 companies at the end of the October 1, 2007 deadline. The applicants include a diverse mix of companies – from global telecom service providers such as AT&T and aluminium and steel majors such as Sterlite Industries, Ispat Industries and the Hinduja Group to real estate developers such as DLF and Parsvnath.
