The government has asked BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) to finalise by July 2007, the countries and locations where their joint venture undersea cable, Millennium Telecom Limited (MTL), will land.

The government has asked BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) to finalise by July 2007, the countries and locations where their joint venture undersea cable, Millennium Telecom Limited (MTL), will land. The PSUs also have to work with the Ministry of External Affairs to acquire landing rights in transit countries. They currently plan to invest Rs 18 billion to build two cable links to Singapore and West Asia, which would later be expanded to the US and Europe respectively.
