BSNL, in collaboration with Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL), is planning to lay a fibre optic cable across Myanmar. This will be the first step towards setting up a land link between India and South Asia, which will ultimately pass through Kuala Lumpur and terminate in Singapore. The first phase of laying the network is expected to be completed by end-2007. The project will improve communication links between India and Myanmar.
