SK Telecom has opened a test area for a 3G communications network in its research centre in China. The test bed will enable local researchers to conduct tests on network construction, interoperability, server and terminal platform functions, multimedia 3G convergence services, and TD-SCDMA, a 3G mobile network solely supported by the Chinese government. This will help SK Telecom strengthen its foothold in China's potentially lucrative mobile service market.
