The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has directed BSNL to re-tender the Rs 5.91 billion contract that it awarded to HCL Infosystems for setting up a communications network for the Indian Air Force. This is because a CVC probe has concluded that there was a "restriction of fair competition" in the tendering process.
According to it, the total cost of components that HCL Infosystems was to purchase from Cisco Systems accounted for 50.2 per cent of the total cost of the project, indicating a monopolistic situation.
