Hutchison Essar Limited (HEL) plans to offer i-mode mobile internet service in India by 2007. This service allows internet access to rich content, e-mail and games through mobile handsets. HEL has tied up with NTTDoCoMo, which will license the patented technologies and knowhow needed for Hutch to offer i-mode on GSM, general packet radio service (GPRS) and WCDMA networks.
