Public Accounts Committee to take up 2G and 3G spectrum allocation issues again
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has decided to examine the issues related to allocation of 2G and 3G spectrum again. To this end, the panel has added ‘Recent Development in the Telecom Sector including allocation of 2G and 3G Spectrum’ in its agenda. Further, a seven-member sub-committee will look into this matter.
The panel will also scrutinise the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report on the communication and information technology (IT) sector which had criticised the government for giving undue favours to CDMA operators during the 3G allocations. Moreover, the issue of call drops is also expected to be taken up by the panel during the consideration of these reports.
