October 07, 2015

Aircel and Tikona Digital Networks have awarded contracts to Telenet Systems for its outdoor customer premises equipment (CPEs) and indoor routers. Both Aircel and Tikona are presently focusing on home and enterprise customers for their high-speed 4G long term evolution (LTE) services.

Outdoor CPEs are usually placed on top of the terrace to connect with operator’s data network to further provide indoor broadband service with the help of fiber. Telenet has been manufacturing around 25,000 Wi-Fi and outdoor LTE CPEs per month for Indian telecom operators. According to the company, Tikona has deployed over 300,000 of its Wi-Fi CPEs across the country. Meanwhile, it is going to start supplies for Aircel, for the operator's enterprise and home broadband customers.

Aircel holds 20 MHz of spectrum in the 2300 MHz band across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, the North East and Jammu & Kashmir circles. It has commercially launched its 4G services in six circles for its enterprise customers, and is now preparing to launch 4G services in the remaining two circles. Meanwhile, Tikona holds 4G spectrum in the Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (East), Uttar Pradesh (West) and Himachal Pradesh circles, and recently launched its 4G home broadband services in Varanasi.
