Xiaomi ties up with Foxconn to domestically manufacture smartphones

Xiaomi has announced its first manufacturing unit in India in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The company has partnered with Foxconn Technology Group for this facility and is presently manufacturing through the third party route.
The company will presently continue to import components from China for some time, but will soon look at getting the packaging of its smartphones done locally. This would include procuring chargers and batteries for Mi smartphones from local vendors.
The company has a similar facility in partnership with Foxconn in Brazil and China.
