Operators request DoT to issue standard audit process on call drops
Telecom operators have requested the Department of Telecom (DoT) to come up with a standardised audit procedure that conforms to the audit process established by the Telecom Authority of India (TRAI) with regards to the information sought from them on the issue of call drops. The operators are of the view that the information sought by the Telecom Enforcement, Resource and Monitoring (TERM) Cells such as public complaints on call drops, complaint records, configurations of pre-paid subscribers and post-subscribers in home circle are not relevant for auditing networks.
The Ministry of Communications and IT had earlier ordered a special audit of service parameters focused on network performance for checking call drops. TRAI had already laid down the benchmark for call drop rate to be less than 2 per cent. Most of the operators have failed to meet this benchmark.
