Vodafone India reports an increase of 10.6 per cent in its revenues for the quarter ended June 2015
Vodafone India has reported an increase of 10.6 per cent in its revenues, from £1.02 billion for the quarter ended June 2014 to £1.13 for the quarter ended June 2015. According to the company, the low growth rate was due to the impact of regulations, including the cut in mobile termination rates (MTR).
The company’s data revenues grew by 65 per cent supported by the addition of 3.1 million new data customers, taking the total of 66.8 million subscribers. While total voice traffic continues to grow, the outgoing rate per minute has continued to decline, reflecting increased competition. The average minutes of use per customer is lower than a year ago but has increased slightly compared to the previous quarter. Vodafone’s total mobile subscriber base stands at 185.4 million subscribers, as of June 2015.
Further, under its Project Spring, the company added 1,000 2G sites and 1,100 3G sites in the quarter ended June 2015. Vodafone is presently conducting trials of its 4G services across selected areas and it continues to expand its M-Pesa service, which now has 501,000 active customers supported by 94,000 agents.
