BSNL plans to invest Rs 8.30 billion for improving its services in the Odisha circle
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is planning to invest Rs 8.30 billion for improving its services in the Odisha circle. Out of this, Rs 4 billion has been earmarked for the National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) project.
Under the network revamping plans, BSNL will commission 372 2G mobile sites and 193 3G base transceiver stations in the state. Meanwhile under the NOFN project, BSNL plans to cover 3,369 village panchayats in 167 blocks in 2015-16. This will cover the districts of Boudha, Cuttack, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Gajpati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Kendujhar, Khurda, Mayurbhanja, Nayagarh and Puri.
BSNL has launched Wi-Fi hotspots across various tourist locations in the state. The Wi-Fi facility offers a broadband bandwidth of up to 100 MB per second. This service is available free of charge for the first 30 minutes, after which the customer can continue using the service on paid basis. The subscription plans for the same are available in the denomination of Rs 30, Rs 50, Rs 90 and Rs 150 for validity of 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 120 minutes and one day respectively.
