Airtel, Orange Softech, Ortel and Vodafone to participate in PoC project in Bhubaneswar City

The government of Odisha has selected multiple operators and infrastructure service providers to come up with proof of concept (PoC) project for setting-up Wi-Fi hotspots in Bhubaneswar City.

Players including Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel Limited, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Orange Softech, Ortel and Vodafone India will be participating in the project which will focus on various parametres for the Wi-Fi hotspots. These parameters include reliability and robustness of the network; compatibility of overall eco-system; cost effectiveness; timeliness; customer feedback; regulatory and security compliance and legal interception.

As per scope of work, the operator will design, build, operate and manage Wi-Fi services during the PoC period of four weeks, at one of the ten locations. The locations are: Utkal university campus and Sahid Nagar; Market building, Secretariat and IG Park; Biju Patnaik College Road, Pal Heights and May Fair; Forest Park Area, Biju Pattnaik Park and Airport; KIIT University, Infocity and Damana; Lingraj Temple area; Surya Nagar, Governor house and OUAT; Nandan Kannan and Botanical Garden; Khandagiri, Jagamara and ITER; and Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Master Canteen and Ashok Nagar.

All the players will have to provide high speed Internet services (minimum 512 Kbps) with wireless network at their own cost at the selected location.
