Lenovo plans to set up smartphone manufacturing unit in India
June 26, 2015
Lenovo is mulling over setting up a smartphone manufacturing facility in India. However, the decision will depend on the policy support offered by the government for manufacturing projects. The company currently has a PC manufacturing unit in Puducherry.
Meanwhile, the company is targeting breaking into the top five smartphone brands in the Indian market during 2015-16. The Indian market is currently dominated by players such as Samsung, Micromax, Intex, Lava, Karbonn and Motorola. Lenovo has already launched five smartphone models in 2015 and is planning to launch 10 more models by December 2015.
