Idea Cellular to invest Rs 55 billion on service and network expansion in 2015-16
Idea Cellular is planning to invest Rs 55 billion on its service and network expansion in 2015-16. The company plans to continue its focus on 3G operations. Meanwhile, it is also evaluating prospects to offer 4G services.
The company is also reportedly planning to launch 4G services in few pockets from late 2015, around the time when Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited and Vodafone India are expected to launch similar services. The company already has 4G spectrum in 10 of India's 22 telecom circles.
According to industry reports, the company gained market share in each of its 22 circles in 2014-15. Its greatest subscriber additions came from its top circles such as Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
