VSNL to merge subsidiaries with itself
December 15, 2006
As part of a major restructuring exercise, VSNL could merge about half of its subsidiaries with itself. The company aims to bring down the number of its subsidiaries to 30. The restructuring plans, to be undertaken over the next four to nine months, would result in a simpler, more manageable corporate structure for the company.
Meanwhile, VSNL has decided to provide submarine CLS access to all telecom operators and has introduced standard access facilitation charges for the same. These charges are paid by ILD operators and ISPs that buy bandwidth from cable companies.
