Vodafone withdraws its plea against DoT from Delhi High Court
Vodafone has withdrawn its plea from the Delhi High Court, where it has alleged that Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had refused to sign operator’s unified license. This comes after the bench of justices ruled that Vodafone should first approach the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) in this regard.
Vodafone had alleged that the DoT was indulging in coercive practices as it refused to sign Vodafone’s unified license (ULs) until the latter unconditionally accepts the restrictive clauses in the license.
The operator had contended that by rejecting their request to delete restrictive clauses pertaining to roaming; DoT is restricting the rights already granted to the operator and upheld by TDSAT in its order dated April 29, 2014. Vodafone currently is in a tight spot as its Unified Access Service License expires in end-November 2014.
