November 15, 2006
Bharti Airtel is planning to invest about Rs 2 billion in Jammu & Kashmir by March 2007. It currently has a presence in 12 of the 14 districts of the state with over 500 cell sites. This is part of the company's aim to penetrate the rural, semi-urban and untapped markets in the country. Meanwhile, Bharti has merged its Kolkata and West Bengal circles under a single integrated cellular operation called Bharti Airtel-Bengal. It also plans to bring the company's landline, mobile and broadband businesses in West Bengal under a single umbrella.
