DoT asks ISPs to pay spectrum fee with effect from date of issue
November 15, 2006
DoT has reportedly asked ISPs allocated spectrum in the 2.5-2.6 GHz, 2.7-2.9 GHz, 3.3-3.4 GHz and 5.7-5.8 GHz bands to pay for it with effect from the date on which they received it.
However, those owning 1.8-1.9 GHz spectrum have been exempted from payment. The Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) has sent a written disagreement on the issue to DoT's Wireless Planning and Coordination wing.
