November 15, 2006
The communications and IT ministry has resolved the long-standing dispute between MTNL and BSNL on carriage charges for national long distance (NLD) calls. It was decided that BSNL would charge MTNL Re 0.18 per minute instead of the current Re 0.20 per minute as carriage charge for a distance of up to 50 km.
Beyond this distance, the new rate is Re 0.36 per minute compared to the existing Re 0.65. For calls to C circles, BSNL will charge MTNL Re 0.50 per minute.
