The government may reportedly postpone or even abandon the proposed merger of MTNL and BSNL as the two may gain little out of this move. According to the telecommunications and IT minister, Dayanidhi Maran, the merger may not actually materialise. There are no plans to open the Mumbai-Delhi route for BSNL to provide services.
