MTNL pays Rs 3.14 billion to BSNL for carrying its domestic long distance traffic
June 15, 2006
MTNL has reportedly paid Rs 3.14 billion to BSNL for carrying its domestic long distance traffic. BSNL had, however, demanded Rs 10.6 billion. Both PSUs are carrying out negotiations regarding the remaining amount and have exchanged data to verify each other's claims. BSNL had earlier stressed the need for a routine dues payment mechanism, saying it should be done on a PSU-to-PSU basis as is the case with most of the private operators. A committee has been formed to settle the Interconnect Usage Charges Bill, netting each others' dues on a monthly basis so that disputes owing to the accumulation of dues can be avoided.
