Shyam Telecom wins GSM mobile service operator licence in the UK

Shyam Telecom has won a GSM mobile service operator licence in the UK. A group subsidiary, Shyam Telecom UK Limited, has been awarded a wireless telegraphy licence by OFCOM, the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industry. With this licence, Shyam Telecom will be able to operate full-fledged GSM services in the British Isles, including Ireland. The company paid around Rs 10 million for the licence, for an initial term of 10 years, which is extendible at the discretion of OFCOM.
