Bharti Airtel plans to spend up to Rs 2 billion to improve network connectivity in Kolkata

Bharti Airtel plans to spend up to Rs 2 billion to improve network connectivity in Kolkata circle in 2006-07. In addition to the existing 550 cell sites, the company plans to double its capacity to 1,500 sites in the city, open 100 customer service centres and authorise 200 retailers for e-charging and collecting bill payments. In the eastern region, including Jharkhand and Orissa, the company is reportedly setting up 6,000 sites. The company will also focus on its value-added services segment, which contributed 10.7 per cent to the total revenue collected last year.
