MTNL plans to roll out 3G services this fiscal year (2006-07)

MTNL plans to roll out 3G services this fiscal year (2006-07). In line with this, it plans to open the first round of bids for equipment in May 2006. Leading vendors such as Ericsson, Nortel, Motorola and Alcatel will participate in the tender process for providing 2 million GSM lines (of which 50 per cent will be 3G) worth Rs 7.5 billion.
