Bharti Infratel joins hands with GSMA to develop and promote green technologies in the telecom infrastructure space

Bharti Infratel has joined hands with the GSM Association (GSMA) to develop and promote green technologies in the telecom infrastructure space, say news reports.
As per the conditions of the agreement, both companies will jointly convert 1,000 of Bharti Infratel’s towers into green sites. As per a statement issued by Bharti Infratel, this is expected to reduce greenhouse gas carbon emissions by almost 11,000 tonnes.
In so far, the company has already converted over 10,500 sites to alternative back-up power, out of which almost 1,350 sites function on a hybrid of solar energy.
