HFCL Infotel likely to merge with Datacom

Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited (HFCL) Infotel is reportedly in talks with Videocon to merge itself with Datacom, in which Videocon holds a majority stake. Although HFCL failed to obtain a telecom licence from the Department of Telecommunications, HFCL Infotel has managed to get a panIndian licence in association with Datacom. The merger, if it takes place, will enable HFCL Infotel to become a pan-Indian player as Datacom has been awarded an LoI by DoT to launch cellular services in 22 circles.
