Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), which recently bought 30 per cent stake in Pakistan's Warid Telecom, is planning to bid for a majority stake in state-owned Ghana Telecom. The deal is likely to be worth over $500 million. If successful, this would be SingTel's first acquisition in Africa. Several strategic investors including France Telecom and Portugal Telecom are taking part in the privatisation auction for Ghana Telecom.
