Sri Lanka Telecom announces financial results

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has recorded a 55 per cent increase in profits to Rs 3.87 billion for the first nine months ended September 30, 2006, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. SLT's net profit has also increased by 42 per cent to Rs 1.5 billion for the period under review. SLT attributes its healthy performance to Mobitel's (its mobile phone arm) improved performance and SLT's recent launch of telephone connections using CDMA.
