SSTL reports a reduction in losses for the quarter ended September 2014
Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) has reported a loss of Rs 4.37 billion for the quarter ended September 2014, as against the loss of Rs 7.60 billion registered during the corresponding quarter in 2013. Meanwhile, SSTL posted an operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) loss of Rs 1.03 billion for the quarter ended September 2014, experiencing a 53 per cent reduction from Rs 2.19 billion for the corresponding quarter in 2013.
The company, however, registered an increase of 20 per cent in revenues from Rs 2.88 billion in July-September 2013 to Rs 3.42 billion in July-September 2014.
For the telecom operator, the revenues from non-voice services contributed Rs 1.47 billion to the total revenues, representing a share of 43 per cent in its overall revenues during July-September 2014. The increased data usage driven by a 23 per cent increase in data subscribers from 1.20 million for the quarter ended September 2013 to 1.48 million for the quarter ended September 2014, led to an increase of 24 per cent in blended average revenue per user (ARPU) from Rs 95 to Rs 117 during the same time period.
