Cisco appoints new CTO

Cisco has appointed Alex Zinin as CTO of the company’s service provider business in the Asia Pacific region and Japan. Zinin will report to Edzard Overbeek, Cisco’s president for Asia-Pacific and Japan, and work closely with Cisco’s customers in areas such as internet protocol (IP) next-generation networks, video, mobility, data centres and cloud computing. He has 20 years of experience in the IP networking industry and has helped to structure key internet routing and multiprotocol label switching technologies. He also has many patents to his credit. Prior to joining Cisco, he was vice-president, IP solutions, Asia-Pacific, at Alcatel-Lucent.
